Dr. Wright is a New York State licensed psychologist. She received her B.A. from DePaul University in Chicago, IL. She received her M.A. and Psy.D. from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2008. As a scientist-practitioner of psychology, Dr. Wright has over 26 years of experience.
Dr. Wright initially worked at a psychosocial rehabilitation facility with adults with chronic mental health issues for 6 years in Chicago, IL. She also worked at the Howard Brown Health Center in Chicago, a mental health center for the LGB and T population. Dr. Wright’s first doctoral practicum was at Northlake Methodist Hospital in Gary, Indiana. Her second year of training was at a community mental health center in Chicago, IL. Her third year of training was at the Harrington College of Design in Chicago, IL where she helped them to develop a Counseling Center. She completed her doctoral internship and post-doctoral training at the University at Albany Counseling Center. She worked there for 10 years, providing individual therapy, group therapy, prevention programming/grant work (Sexual Violence, Alcohol & Other Substance Abuse, and Suicide Prevention), and some teaching/training. She also worked at Skidmore College Counseling Center in Saratoga, NY. After this, Dr. Wright worked at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY until 2019.
Since 2016, Dr. Wright has maintained a private practice, working with clients from age 10-90 representing diverse racial & cultural backgrounds and identities with a wide variety of presenting issues.
She is a member of the American Psychological Association, New York State Psychological Association, Psychological Association of Northeastern New York, and the National Register for Health Service Psychologists. She continues to be passionate in the area of Suicide Prevention and has organized many Out of the Darkness mental health awareness walks with the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.
